Today we're checking out the song, Slipping Through My Fingers! This song is from the album, The Visitors. In the video I mention this but its worth noting this is technically the third song I've heard from that album. I've reacted to both "The Visitors" and "I Am The City" (from the Deluxe version).

Recorded a while back... I am incredibly far behind on posting reactions from the backlog.

It's a wonderful song 👌.
Happy birthday Agnetha 🩷 (yesterday, April 5, she turned 74 years old).
HAPPY ABBAVERSARY (today, April 6, marks 50 years since their victory at Eurovision '74, with the song 'Waterloo')
Nice to see you again, Ratty...
Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗👍

"Slipping through my fingers" (1981)
IMHO is the most testimonial and experiential song by ABBA
This lyrics are very deep about the growth of a son and how those moments of time go by day by day The guitarist songwriter Björn writes it about her 7/8 year old daughter, and her ex wife Agnetha sings it with specialy feeling of mother

Sometimes it is related to "The winner takes it all", because it has as protagonists Björn & Agnetha
But there are differences between the two stories:
1) that is the figurative story about a divorce (although probably with parts of the reality that Agnetha & Björn lived), but this is a story inspired by the daily lives of parents
2) this does not arouse the morbidity of the leading couple, it is an intimate story of parents and children that generates tenderness and nostalgia
3) perhaps this one does not have the usual catchy refrains of ABBA or a powerful melody like that, here its melody is soft, cared for and intimate, it accompanies without invading the wonderful emotional interpretation of Agnetha, that always shines much more when the song asks to express the feelings

In short, it's a beautiful song by melody and interpreter lyrics, it touches the most intimate fibers of emotion and nostalgia, it's my favourite of the album "The Visitors" and is in my Top 20 of all ABBA songs

There is a live perfomance of ABBA, in the TV special "Dick Cavett meets ABBA" filmed in Sweden 1981, and ABBA premieres two songs, these was one of those

And also is one of the two songs that ABBA recorded in spanish: "Se me está escapando"

My best regards from
Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷
South America

PS: don't worry of how to pronunce their names
the most important thing is your reaction

Björn wrote this about his own feelings when he saw their daughter leaving for school by herself for the first time. Feeling like he was losing her in a way. But I'm sure Agnetha shared his feelings, and no one is better at putting feelings into a song than her

It´s a mother (Agneta) singing about her daughter growing up...

Thx, , l the ABBA galaxy is I'm sure happy to see you again! The day before yesterday was the birthday of D Agnetha, which you pronounced quite well. It's amazing that you're talking about KISS, Pophouse, one of Abb's satellite companies.bought all their rights, including music, image, makeup. In February, ABBA Pophouse bought Cyndy Lauper's catalog,

Next one by them you gotta try a hard one from their early stuff.'So Long".A vibrant rockage uplifter or even the filmed electric live version of 'Tiger" that was an opener in their thrilling Australian '77 tour.

They were & are an excellent band, that's for sure. I was 12 yrs old when they in the Eurovision Song test & ofcourse won!!! What a group!!

At this time in their career they weren't trying to make chart toppers. They write what experienced. They write about what inspired them. I'd the public like it, that was a bonus for them.

I love this one, Ratty! 💞 If you ever watch MAMMA MIA (2008), you'll see how it applies to the mother/daughter relationship. Thanks so much for doing it.

OH ! It's me again, the live version on BBC TV, seems better to me, Agnetha's interpretation is there WOUAH 😮, Deeper, more intuitive than the over-prepared, varnished studio version.

I am a swede myself and I think you say Abba and Agnetha in a good way, no problems. In this song I feel the emotions as a parent watching the daughter growing up and the time goes by.

🎵 Sometimes I wish that I could freeze the picture and save it from the funny tricks of time🎵 is an amazing line.. and this is definitely not your musical style -taste but it is a beautiful song.

This song is so special. A girl did a cover of it at a high school concert my younger brother was in. I was sitting next to my mum and we just held hands and cried to this song 😭

ABBA performed this song LIVE, on "Dick Cavett Show"(1981)
They recorded a Spanish version, titled "Se Me Está Escapando"
They also performed this song LIVE, at home in Stockholm, for Swedish TV (SVT) 1982

The pronunciation of Agnetha's name turned into a long-running joke between me (karaoke junkie) and one of the local K-hosts. I was trying out one of Agnetha's solo songs (in a different key; I'm a baritone), and the host took a swing at the name, coming out with "Agatha Flatskog" and cracking me up. Ever since, he's come up with all manner of mispronunciations: "Alabaster Flagpole", "Alberta Flatulence", et cetera. Later I mentioned Frida Lyngstad, and he said "oh come on, you're just making these names up..." 😁

A much more better ballad in my point of view is the song "I can be that woman" from their new Album "Voyage" which came out 2021. You should consider making a reaction of it...

Swede here. I would say you still don’t get Agnetha quite right. It is Angneta, not Angnieta as you say it. But not bad. 👍
