At the time, in Sweden there was a movement against commercial music and Abba were accused of making music for the masses to make money and only for the money. This was how they responded.. Benny said in an interview in Australia before concert: "I`d hate the sound of 30 thousand people booing." By which he meant, that they did as good music as they possibly could for the listener. And they sure did.
That`s why it`s still relevant.

Hello I like and thank you for your reaction. Frida's vocals on this are great. A cabaret /musical feel to this song which i Love.

Abba's culture was rather far and away from the 'American dream'.Despite their riches they kinda rather 'snubbed' riches and extraordinary luxuries over creativety and communication with the masses through music. In the longawaited premier of VOYAGE in London late May 2022, they arrived at the Arena all together again by Taxi! Also in the cover sleeve of their 1975 lp 'ABBA' they posed sarcastically into an expensive limo holding champagne and stuff sending the message that they didn't actually fit in this kind of life. And i would also Add Frida's answer when asked 'how do you wanna be remembered"Frida'I wanna be remembered as a member of a band that gave people happyness, that gave them comfort and that we were here for them(and for us of course) but we did it for them".OK I'm disarmed and kneel before this decency and humbleness.

One of their classic big hits.Lyrics are quite sarcastic. It's genre is 'baroque pop' with some music theatre elements.Ideal lead for Frida and i love the 'saloon piano' sound in the intro.

Benny and Bjorn (and Tim Rice) wrote One Night in Bangkok after ABBA broke up. It was a top 5 hit in the US. It was an interesting mixture of theater (it was written for their musical, Chess) and new wave style.

Oh and I think you would love Take A Chance On Me, Fernando, Chiquitita. Does Your Mother Know BUT it has to be the double video with Hole In Your Soul Live at Wembley, the best live ABBA performance in my opinion. The transition between both songs is amazing.

I'm a marrionette is very dramatic, theatrical and kind of creepy. Metal band Ghost did a cover of it, but ABBA's original was somehow creepier! Listen to the studio version.

Hello, so nice to see you again reaction to ABBA songs

"Money money money" (1976)
it is a very good song in a different musical style, cabaret type, set in another era

"Money money money"
is the single that followed
"Dancing Queen"
and reached # 3 in the UK, #1 in Australia and several European countries.

It is a totally different song from its predecessor "Dancing Queen" and also from its successor "Knowing me knowing you"
This is the versatility of ABBA, they go from genre to genre, as well as from success to success

The song lends itself very well to the brunette Frida's lower voice, the choruses are sharper in contrast (and very catchy) The instrumentation is excellent

The official video is one of ABBA's best, very creative, it shows Them in fashion situations and also with their famous kimonos
But a few months before ABBA premieres the new official lyric video of "Money money money" (these that you are using now)

I hope to see you soon with more ABBA songs
My best regards to You from
Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷
South America

They certainly were not poor around this time, but probably not wealthy. You have to remember they are from Sweden. The cou try with one of the highest taxes, especially around this time.
World famous film director Ingmar Bergman fled the country after being arrested for tax evation.
World famous writer Astrid Lindgren (pippi longstocking)had to pay more than 100% in income tax because of the tax on what you owned.
The Abba members probably was well off at the time. But nowhere near what they and other superstars had 5-10 years later.

Original title was 'Gypsy Girl' before turning it into 'MMM'.

If you have a child then you will relate to "Slipping through my fingers". If not you may associate it with your parents.

Yes, they were probably pretty rich at this point. But they still understood what it's like to be broke. 😂

I wouldn't call it hypocrisy, I'd call it irony.

I've read that when the song was in the making the song featured 'Gypsy-like' violins right before the chorus bursted but were kinda silenced in the final release.

Everything @alexioverdo5225 said I totally agree and summed up perfectly. ABBA were always about the music as opposed to the almighty dollar and fame. Great reaction, hard with New Zealand time difference with livestreams for me. We are a day ahead in a lot of countries.

this song is a satire of the Swedish, socialist mind of the cultural elite, of the time, that despise making lots of money and having success. The motto of the time was : "music must have a socialist message" and ABBA were the black riders to them. ABBA and their music were banned from the media until 1976 when their success, specially in Australia, was to big to be ignored...
