Ship #D51 was the conversion aircraft that became the first F-15E model as it went down the assembly line. The first E model sported Michelin Radial MLG tires and the landing gear doors had to get bumps in them to accomodate the fatter tires in the stowed position. There were some headaches and things always just didn't fit right but they all got worked out in time and intentional corrective action. I was glad to have worked on it in Forward Fuselage Design Group as a Detail Drafter.
