Should You File A Homeowners Claim? | Insurance Law Attorney Florida | The Rain Law Firm

Transcript:
I often get asked the question, "well if I file a claim with my insurance carrier wont they just cancel my policy or raise my rates." This plays right into the insurance company's playbook. The carrier wants you to be afraid to file a claim. After all, if you don't file it, they don't have to pay it.
An insurance policy is nothing more than an exchange of promises. You, the homeowner, promise to pay your premiums and the carrier promises that you'll be in Good Hands.
You've kept your promise, and now, in your time of need your insurance company is not acting like a good neighbor.
If you've had a claim there are three things you need to do right away to protect your rights:
Number one - report the claim as soon as possible to your carrier. Timely reporting is a requirement and many times the insurance company will use a delay in reporting as a reason not to pay the claim.
Number two - photograph and document the damage. While you should always protect yourself and your property from additional damage, make sure you take lots of photographs before you begin making any repairs. If the claim is not properly documented and the repairs have been made before the carrier has an opportunity to inspect, you can be sure the carrier deny the claim.
Number three - get help. Whether it's an attorney or a public adjuster, hire an advocate to assist you with the claim. The insurance company has teams of attorneys and adjusters who do nothing but handle insurance claims. You deserve a team of your own who understands how to interpret the insurance policy and who can fight for you to make sure you get the recovery you deserve.
The Rain Law Firm can provide proactive representation and advocacy, from the moment the claim happens through the filing of a law suit, if necessary. You are our priority and our team of experienced professionals will fight on your behalf, hold the insurance company accountable and make sure that the process goes as smoothly as possible so that you can focus on rebuilding.

About Rain Law:
At The Rain Law Firm, we understand that nothing is more frustrating for homeowners, business owners and other insureds than to be given the runaround by an insurance company. After all, as a policyholder, you've been diligently paying your insurance premiums for years — and now, in your time of need, your insurer is putting up roadblocks to your recovery by improperly denying, delaying and, often, underpaying your claim.
As a former insurance company lawyer, our founder, Matthew Kotzen, knows all too well the tactics insurers will use to deny, delay or underpay a valid insurance claim. After many years of representing insurance companies, Matthew finally had enough — he made a deliberate decision to help insureds and now represents only those who have been victimized by insurers. With this insider knowledge, Matthew and his colleagues at The Rain Law Firm know how insurers think — and they will use this information to your advantage when representing your interests against big insurers.
We represent all injury victims and policyholders — car and truck accident victims, homeowners, business owners and more. You can count on us to protect your rights, help you fight back and get the monetary compensation you rightfully deserve.
