Getting Out of Bed

This video demonstrates how patients can get out of bed with and without the assistance of a handrail.

This how-to series, made possible by the Norma Oppenlander Fund, is designed to provide persons afflicted with PSP, CBD and related diseases with demonstrations of techniques that can be utilized to make daily tasks easier to perform.

Move the whole body as a trunk when swinging up and the quicker you do ( the momentum) is making it easier and smoother. By saying that, pls ask for help when you are practicing the new way of getting up mindfully without using the abdominal muscle (now). Do not listen to the nurse that you take the pain killer will make you heal faster ( so you can get up and walk). Everyone is different; it is not advisable to start get out of bed too soon. The walking does help you to pass out gas and bowel movement, however, your goal should keep the incision not broken. Remember there are few layers of skin, you not even get the surface healed yet. You can move your bed up and down and also warm your massaging leg while the incision is fresh. You have lot of time to practice walking, no rush. When you are ready walk and pause few times depend on your body condition.

Well I tried the bed rail after having a knee replacement, thought it would help but in the long run, now suffering from lower back pain trying to grab rail with my frozen shoulder, got rid of the rail getting better, but still having problems getting out of bed 😡😡😡😡😡
