Welcome back to the Ultimate Tech Hub. On this episode we will show you how to install 2 different wireless routers in one single home network. We chose 2 different brand routers for this video. One router is a Linksys and other router is a Netgear. UPDATE: I made an error with the IP Address for the Secondary Router so make that IP address 192.168.1.2 not 192.168.2.1. Sorry about that I swapped the numbers on accident. This video is only about setting up 2 routers and not about any advanced settings. Router 2 acts as an access point. I will make another video about LAN to WAN connection between 2 routers. And thank you for all who pointed that out! Much appreciated! Thanks for watching!! Most all routers are completely self-negotiating. So all you have to do is plug the 2nd router into a LAN and you are done. I have 4 routers all from different companies without issue and no wifi channels have nothing to do with IP conflicts they are not even related. If a router is upstream of another router it just switched to Access Point mode and follows what the upstream router commands.

YES! It worked for me! 😀 Thank you so much! Now I have a bunch of devices including a video doorbell that work a lot faster on the other side of the house!

You have an amazing amount of tolerance and patience having to explain numerous times the whole idea behind adding this additional router is simply a way to extend coverage further away. It's priceless to have people ask you why do have the routers so close together...duh!

We hope this video helps you with connecting 2 routers to 1 home network. I made an error with the IP Address for the Secondary Router so make that IP address 192.168.1.2. Sorry about that I swapped the numbers on accident. And thank you for all who pointed that out! Much appreciated! Thanks for watching!! And as you can tell I love Office Space!! Lol!

thank you, for the way you explain everything is so much easier than anyone else. I am 66yrs young and I truly thought this was going to be way over my head to do and understand. But no thanks to the way you explain things it makes me feel clever lol. thank you so very much wishing you all the best in life, from (eve) Evelyn Saba.

I've seen a few versions of this multiple router set up. This was so much simpler and quicker.

More Common is the primary router. Being a crappy ISP one making the second router the primary is the tricky bit especially if the first one doest have a bridge mode and doesn't allo you to alter the DNS.

Couple Questions:

1. When you disable DHCP will that not provide a collision if the router provides either host the same ip?
2. What is the sole purpose for two routers? Double devices, longer range, faster speeds...etc?
3. I noticed you had a hub or a switch in the beginning of the video.. Are you using this to connect them both to the modem?

I'm a network engineer and know how to setup the high end stuff, but I wasn't aware of the home stuff with only two routers. for a setup like this we would often have 3 routers.

I made the first 3 octets(numbers) the same & made the 4th one in router 2 ip address 1 above the one in router 1. Change the dhcp pool start to something above that in router 1 if not already, say 10 higher & turn off dhcp in router 2. That way i can go to either routers ip address & manange that router if i want to.

Hi there, thank you for this video. When changing the channel in router #1, shouldn't we proceed with apply?... or should we go through all steps (in both routers) and then proceed with "apply" in both routers.

The cable management in this video made my OCD act up and anxiety run wild to where I almost pooped on the floor again. Other than that, it's a nice video and thanks for creating this!

Can I connect computer to the router 2 via LAN cable? Will there be any significant difference in internet speed when the computer is plugged directly to the modem/home network and when its plugged directly to router 2?
