Love that the end of "I love little girls" is the start of this video.

I love how in the third verse, the biggest concern is not about someone killing themselves, but rather how their suicide "ruined everyone's day".

To me this song is genius because while it condemns being detached from other people’s suffering, it also kind of acknowledges that it’s a necessity to do that to survive in this day and age, especially if you can’t do anything about it.

Oingo Boingo is one of the most under rated bands ever.

Worked on this video in the early 80s. Great song and group. Love the bass in this tune. Director was Francis Delia.

Danny Elfman is one of those composers that has the power to convey wisdom in dark, torturous ways. He makes you see the reality in his rhythms and lurid lyrics. He abuses your senses in such a beautiful way

Danny Elfman's dance moves are so transcendentally good. Like why is anyone else even dancing when it was already perfected years ago

Think of it this way: all the music is out there. Listen to what you want. There IS good music out now, but if you want to just listen to older music, that's totally cool, too. I listen to a lot of stuff that came out decades before I was born. All music is to be enjoyed, no matter what year or how old someone is.

My strongest memory of this song was in about 1984. I was a kid and comic book collector. There was only one comic shop in my town and when I showed up one Saturday morning, this dude who worked there and always dressed in karate gi pants with some band t-shirt was playing this song behind the counter. It stuck with me right away, it was a great morning, I had enough money to buy a back issue or two (maybe 3 or 4 bucks, they were cheap then), and my Dad was away for some reason so he could'nt scream me awake and shit on me all day. When I hear this song, I feel like the day is free of worry, which is kind of ironic but fitting.

I kinda think that everyone missed the point of this song since I see comments like "I need this video to survive the horrible things in the world because I can't change them." Which is exactly the point that Danny Elfman is trying to make, we are ignoring the suffering around us because it doesn't affect us directly. And what most people seem to forget is that the horrible things happening to others eventually happen to you

It was clear then as it is now that Danny Elfman is a genius singer, songwriter, and composer. Almost 40 years later, and his music still sounds great

Boingo is definitely best of the 80's. DANNY IS PURE GENIUS.

To be a fly on the wall when they were conceptualizing the music videos.
"Okay, at the final verse, we'll have live heads being served to three rich women."
"Interesting...how does that fit in with the lyrics?"
"Lyrics?"

Such an underrated classic. If you grew up in Southern California in the day, this band was HUGE. So strange that they filled huge venues here and small clubs everywhere else
Interesting phenomenon

This song still feels fresh and contemporary. That's a sign of a masterwork.
