Some golf courses in California are built atop old landfills and they have installed methane recovery systems. There are also some release valves with warnings not to mess with the bubbles, as methane is explosive.

I worked at a golf course and we would get these but filled with water. They were very cool to touch and pop.

I'd be pretty wary of any water or air bubbles I came across. Gas coming up from underground is often explosive or poisonous, and if there's a pocket of water underground, you could be standing on a sinkhole just waiting to happen.

Fun fact. This can only happen if the grass is planted close enough together which most golf course turf is. The roots entangle each other enough that it creates a strong enough bond in which most of the time water can get trapped after a lot of rain fall.

Not sure if its the case with this video, but when I worked turf this would happen when we did blowout, at any spot the irrigation lines had slight leaks. And if a large break occured during the season it would be the same but with water instead.
