Thanks for including the stretch stitch. I’ve been machine sewing for most of my 75 years, but didn’t know about this stretch stitch. Your demonstration was excellent, both the visual and your commentary. 🥰

Hand sewing is actually very valuable for making high end/couture garments.

Thank you for this tutorial; the herringbone stitch,
especially! While I am very fortunate to have a machine, I sometimes choose to stitch by hand because it is very soothing or when mending in a tight space. I knew the first two stitches, but I wondered what I would do for knits.

Boy, am I glad I found your channel! I am in the middle of trying to mend some of my son's clothing and your tips are going to do the trick! I never learned any of this in my younger years!

I have been hand sewing the running stitch for lining some of my crochet projects. I have been doing them in short stitches. Now im using the back stitch from now on. Thank you!

This stretch stitch is exactly what I needed to attach some elastic to my shorts. Thank you.

So today's my first time ever attempting to sew anything. I've been in the Army for 6 years and we always get these little sewing kits as a part of our gear but nobody taught us how to use them. Well, I have a headlamp whose elastic strap lost its elasticity and I didn't want to buy a whole new headlamp and I decided I would try sewing my own elastic band. I completed my first back stitch and I can't lie, it's ugly as sin, but it's effective. Thank you so much for making this video, I'm going to keep practicing so maybe my stitches will run in a direction that approaches straight.

Thank you for this video. I’m 80 years old and need to sew by hand now. These 3 stitches are what I need to relearn. I’m a heart patient and stroke survivor and cancer survivor. So I can’t do the dress sewing ZI did in my 20s. Once again, thank you.

I'm so glad I found your video. I needed a way to sew stretchy fabrics as I usually have to alter tops to fit me. I love to hand sew but didn't know about the stretch stitch, so thank you.

Thank you so much for this! I'm preparing to hand stitch an elastic band to an elastic cloak to keep the cloak in place while I wear it (for my wrist to keep it in place at the bottom), and I wanted to make sure I stitched it correctly since I don't often work with elastics. I usually do the basic running stitch. Thank you for showing the example of what could happen with the running stitch vs the Herringbone.

Great sewing instructions! Wish they still taught this in school today! So glad I learned back in the day. Kids today can't sew a button on a shirt! In fact, they dont even have a needle and thread!

Thanks Jan! Im 37. Been sewing since I was 5. My sewing machine broke and have been hand mending. My daughter asked to learn so I googled. But, I never learned HERRINGBONE. I'm excited to keep learning new stitches. As a seasoned stitcher this was helpful.
