@ 2:51 the information provided is inaccurate; you cannot choose whatever number(S) you want in the final octet. This needs to be between .2 & 254 depending on your DFG & Broadcast address within that respective sub netmask. Furthermore /24 does NOT mean on 24 hours a day, this is the subnet mask in CIDR notion. I had to do a double take on this section as I thought my ears were failing me. Be careful people.

Good video. Where is the static IP located, and can this be changed (or set) during setup?

What I'm trying to do is have a static IP in L.A, which is where I currently am, while not actually being here. I've spent a week+ looking at the Deeper Connect DPN, but everything on there seems to be geared toward crypto, which I don't have an interest in.

For example, is the IP based on where you are when it's setup? In that case, I'd set it up here, and then leave. It'd still show me in L.A, no matter where I was, correct?

Does that question make sense? Sorry if it's confusing.

Thanks!

Solid tutorial, just to clarify the /24 is the subnet mask. This doesn’t mean the hours of day it’s active.

Great tutorial, that you!! I followed your last step to check if it worked, and success on my end too. However on my router page it has not changed, the assigned IP address is the same as the old one? can you explain what's going on there?

I then tried to reboot everything including router, and now the Pi is not visible on my router page at

also, can you suggest other ways to check/confirm/test that my Pi has a static IP? both for curiosity and to get a better grade on my assignment =)
