Welcome to Ridgecrest, NC! Take a tour of the Ridgecrest community through vintage postcards. Ridgecrest, NC is an unincorporated community in Buncombe County. It was originally named Terrel, NC, then Blue Mont, and finally Ridgecrest. Southern Railway had concerns about the name Blue Mont because its short hand code used by the railroad was the same as Black Mountain. In order to remedy this it was changed to Ridgecrest. Ridgecrest is home to the Ridgecrest Conference Center, Camp Ridgecrest for boys, and Camp Crestridge for girls.
