Imagine being a catcher and he knows what’s barreling down on him at full speed. Sometimes it’s a 230lbs man and the Catcher must defend that plate

Let's just take a moment to respect the incredible athleticism and toughness of catchers to hold on to balls after getting rocked....I only got hit like that once in 18u league

4:40 bravo to ump for clearing the bat out of the way quick as hell

1/2 the time is unnecessary but the other half the catcher is literally sitting on home

It takes BALLS (all puns intended) to stand on the plate when the hammer is coming. Big props to all catchers.

Big respect to the Phillies catcher for taking all of those hits and holding on to the ball

11:47 This is the best Home Plate Collision play imo. Top of the 9th, Reds' tying run charges, cannon throw home, Cameron Rupp catches the ball within milliseconds of getting clobbered, holds on to get the game-tying runner out, and the Phillies secure the win. Plus the fans' and commentator's reactions were spot on. It was all perfect in execution.

Shoutout to Eric Kratz for being trucked like a small cornerback and still holding on.

It's kinda amazing that most of the catchers hang on to the ball after getting concussed to outer space.

In like half of these if they would have focused on the base and slid and not collided they would have snuck their foot or hand in

To be a catcher, you got to be the toughest player on the team. To see the effort of most of the catchers in this vid trying to hold on to the baseball for the team, it’s amazing.

16:36 the catcher was like, “I eat trucks for breakfast.”

Got I miss this part of baseball..I know it wasn't healthy for catchers, but it was intense and must watch action.

That hit at 1:15 was the 1970 all star game. Pete rose fractured ray fosse’s shoulder. He never played in an all star game again and struggled with injuries for the next several years before retiring. Apparently his shoulder didn’t heal properly and caused him pain for the rest of his career.

Honestly I have no clue who the Phillies catcher Crats is but he’s one tough dude. He’s got a strong hold on the ball getting run over by big guys going full speed. Respect to all the catcher out there!

In the NFL, most of these hits would require concussion protocol
