I liked home plate collisions, but I'm also not mad they're gone.
I remember when I was learning to play catcher, my dad told me 'when the throw comes in, sit your butt on home plate and get ready to get run over."
Boy howdy did I ever get hit, really messed my back up for the rest of my life freshman year.

It's so funny when I was younger I thought collisions were so cool and I absolutely hated the "Posey" rule when they banned them. Now that I'm older and looking back all I can think is yeah that was cool for the time but it's definitely for the best they don't happen like this anymore. I guess this is what getting old feels like haha

I was a catcher and not only did I have zero issues being clocked, I took it as a personal insult if some of my gear was still on dirt after the collision.

Of course, after that I went to law school so maybe I did suffer some brain damage

The home plate collisions are the hardest to watch for me, because I had to give up baseball after a home plate collision tore two ligaments in my right knee

0:04 Just one reason Albert Belle was universally despised.

0:45 was a dirty hit. He wasn’t even going for the plate, he just wanted to hit the catcher

Anyone who can take a hit from Bo Jackson without dropping the ball should get some war medals.

If you do a part 2, Carlos Beltran and Mike Cameron's outfield collision was probably the worst I've seen.

0:25 man that hit was so unnecessary. The catcher was barely even over the plate! He probably would've scored if he slid.

0:25
The man would've been safe if he slid or went for the base.

if there is a part 2, need the Pete Rose All-Star Game hit

Somewhere there is one of Prince Fielder obliterating a catcher, surprised we don't see that one. There is a great body slam in the classic Brewers & Mariners Brawl.

I had no idea baseball used to be a watchable sport

Add Ha-Seong Kim and Tommy Pham in part 2. I was at that game at Wrigley Field.

maybe an own-goal/goalie-collision GwG in hockey, but homeplate collisions have a special extra proportion of adding "insult-to-injury" when a run scores due to a dropped ball, and oftentimes: massive, and/or career-ending injuries for the catcher. Name me something this near as getting so hurt and losing the match on the same play. Frickin' Bo almost AT-AT'd Dempsey's hip...

The Mariners play against the White Sox sums up the dysfunction they have had the last 2 decades

The one thing that I find sort of stupid is that the idea should be to tag home plate, not jump up to crush the catcher. A lot of the runners would have been safe. But, guess it is for bravado.

If you don't have the Duane Kuiper-Mike Marshall collision from 1983, you didn't do your homework absolutely one of worst collisions ever. Its on video Giants-Dodgers 1983 about 25 minutes in on youtube.
