I found this game at a flea market for $4 complete, couldn't resist. It sat in my closet for a couple years, just pulled it out today, had a surprisingly fun time with two friends in my game group. Looking forward to future games. Nice video, thanks! As far as the Arrows go, they can be replaced with soldier/trooper pieces from other games, but we found them acceptable.

So funny we just played Risk with family over Xmas and when we came home I purchased RISK again and found I had this version of Risk but never played it. Thanks for this explanation. It might actually be fun to play. We purchased the 1959, Europe, and Game of Thrones versions.

Acquired this version of Risk somewhere several years ago and finally opened and played it tonight with my wife and a friend. We improvised some of the rules and just did what felt right, but other than the typical complaints (arrows pieces suck, card quality not great), this version was really fun and refreshing. It went quicker than classic Risk and the bonus objectives, cities, and capitols added more strategy. Definitely recommend trying this out!

Btw, for those curious, here is what we did different than standard rules (some of these we did unintentionally due to rule confusion or forgetting the rules):

-We included a “neutral” or ghost color. We randomly divided the territories into four piles of equal sizes (with extra cards held back) face-down and each selected one to determine which territories we started with, and the remaining pile plus leftovers were the neutral faction in which we placed two troops on each territory that could only defend and not attack.
-Cities were placed on the territories that were pre-determined in the rules.
-Capitol cities were chosen at random among territories each player controlled (each player, including the neutral/ghost, had one capitol).
-We only had ten additional troops to place in addition to our starting territories (I think we each started with 11 territories chosen at random).
-The bonus for turning in a card that had a territory you controlled was one troop instead of two.
-We played Global Domination, but included the objectives for the bonuses.
-Getting an objective bonus did not prevent a player from earning a card for the turn.
-Capitols counted as a territory/city and did not reward an entire troop by themselves.

An interesting moment while deployment of the troops is to bluff with the direction of the arrows on the map. From a psychological point of view, you may fear te оpponent or deceiving the direction of the future attack. This adds an extra political intrigue to the game.

Once played a combo of French and American Risk that was so simple, and fun. Literally just split the territory cards in half, randomly assign an even amount of countries randomly. Then fill in the remaining half of the countries still empty, the American way. This way it’s half random chance, and also tactical strategy. Played super well

With these new open objectives the game goes way faster and frantic, people take more "risks", maybe going kamikaze can get you that extra dice. I had games with 5 people finishing in 45 min, they usually last 1:30

@7:17 if 3 players are playing only the 3rd player would get 1 extra card?

When will they give us a Risk with Modern Soldiers? Think of the money they'd make.

Great job Ben thanks for all your hard work on all these post.  I watch a lot of different tabletop reviewers and find your style very informative. I love Risk and I'm glad you are making vids about them. I have a question, have you played the TSR game Buck rogers battle for the 25 century? if so did you like it and if so would you make a vid on how to play it. Again thanks for all you hard work CHEERS!

Hi, I have a question about the rewards you get for each mission. I have this version of risk at home, and we can't really find out if those rewards are for every turn or only one time use (exept for the obvious ones like airport or 2 extra armies). For things like the attack or defence dice, when it is permanent we found it is pretty powerful, but for a one time use it kinda stinks. Anyway, nice video. Hope someone still replies to a video from years ago

Don't know which came first but this is basically the same as Risk StarCraft Edition. But StarCraft Edition adds heroes, card abilities, and allows for up to 6 players
