In this video, I teach you how to divide exponents (powers) with different bases. This is essentially the same thing as applying an exponent (power) to a fraction. I do both positive and negative examples.

0:00 - Introduction
0:55 - Divide (4^2)/(2*2)
2:16 - Divide (15^3)/(5*3)
3:50 - Divide (4^3)/((1/2)*3)
6:55 - Divide (4^-2)/(2*-2)
10:40 - Divide (-2^-3)/(6*-3)
12:36 - Divide ((-1/2)^-2)/(3*-2)

There's an Algebra playlist attached at the end of the video if you need help with any other topics.

Let me know if you need help with a specific problem or example and I'll make a new video for it!

What I found confusing was the “flipping” - when turning a negative exponent into a positive. This actually happens in two videos as per below expressions:

2^-2 = 1/2^2 = 1/4 (whole number turned into a fraction)

And

(1/2)^-2 = (2/1)^2 = 4/1

Here both terms are flipped. The overall take away I believe, is the desire to “turn negative exponents into a positive exponent”… ? Don’t know if I’m off about this. Major thanks anyways

what would you do if the base was like 2/3 and it doesn't divide into a whole number?

6:48 you can flip ½ into ²/¹ and simplify ⁴/¹ and ²/¹ thus the answer is 8 Edit: Not complaining just a question 🙃
