In this video I will speak about life really is like in an intentional community, and what is the most misunderstood aspect of intentional community life to give a more truthful image of life in an eco village. This is crucial for you to know before visiting an existing eco village or intentional community and also before you embark on the journey of creating your own eco village.

As an extra I have also included footage from how my summer has been!

I hope you enjoy this video and that it can give you an insight in the reality of intentional communities and eco villages!

Concerning the hard work that was mentioned, my understanding is that a permaculture food forest is hard work in the first few years but, if well designed, practically work free afterwards.

Thanks a lot Celastrina for demystifying the idea of intentional community and wisely advising us to watch out four our idealised expectations of what it is. Certainly something I need to work on, so thanks for the teachings :). The video was great, concise yet informative and I love the warm and caring vibe of it. Eager to watch more of your videos! Blessings

Really interesting video especially the discussion of the problems many of us face when we actually spend time in a community and bring our own issues with us. Really appreciate these videos you’ve made and what you are doing sharing your own personal experiences. ❤

I just started watching your videos. They are so beautifully made and inspire a lot. And, finally content about life in alternative communitys, I love it! I dreamed about living in one for a while, I guess. Maybe I visit Domina :)

Very good advice. I have watched dozens of youtube videos that gloss over the realities. Luckily I grew up on a farm so I know it is hard work. But with the right gear (technology CAN be a great help) and the right planning - a more natural life is very feasible. Getting the right community together? Not so easy lol!

Beautiful! Such a sweet to see inspirations from of you, family and nature moments, adorned by accurate and wisdom. Loved that Fondo! Same to me being there is like home. Thanks to show this memorable waterfall's place. I appreciated also the last part, when you comment about Utopian Society and the three points. It's the understanding that was trying to keep aware to perceive better about living intentional community. I will share for sure. Thanks for your wonderful sharing. Stay well.⚘🕊

With Gaza and Ukraine in the news with their attendant tragedy how wonderful to watch your video full of beauty and the connection with nature. Like Marxism premised on a stage of capitalism to produce wealth which is then redistributed it seems that what you are saying is that in intentional communities organisation finances rules and relations with outside are a prerequisite condition and dealing with one’s demons and other peoples exempt of utopia delusions. Let me ask you a question: you correspond to a perhaps stereotypical image of a commune resident: young and beautiful. In your community are there all ages and appearances and what role has your beauty played in your experience in communal living ?

It’s seems to me that these types of communities are attractive to mainly white people from economically well off backgrounds

Correct me if I am incorrect.

Your farming wouldn't be so hard if you did permaculture food forests instead, also NOT all progress and 'going towards the future' is necessarily a good thing, we are currently heading towards a techno-feudalist dystopia, I wouldn't mind going back in time a bit

The hutterites and the bruderhof are older intentional communities than yours I think, they are Christian communities though and I’m not sure what yours is.
