Its crazy to think you can be born into a place you can never escape and regardless of skills or talents continuously live in poverty and forced to worship a 5' peanut man.

I once talked to a North Korean defector and his family is a part of the elite. His life was good compared to the average person but he still wanted to defect. Lives of the elite may be better than the average people but is still hard compared to other countries. He managed to defect but his family are safe as he said. I guess that is one of privileges of being a part of the elite. Otherwise families of the defectors are often sent to labor camps. He said he was sent to a labor camp for 3 weeks but got let out due to his family background. Life is so sad for the people and is better for elite but life is still pretty hard. I hope one day they can live in peace and harmony.

Its crazy to think I have relatives in North Korea, and if my grandmother didn't escape I most likely would have been born into that society or not born at all.

Honestly I can barely go 5 hours after eating toast and orange juice, the fact that the poor kid had to go 14 hours while doing hard and long work with only some rice in his stomach is absolutely crazy to me. Also really sad :(

North Korea: we don’t want anything to do with Europa and the USA
Also North Korea: wearing and watching European/American things means wealth and privilege.

I just think it so weird that they hate 🇺🇸 with a passion but, anything that has to do with us that ends up over there is cool, luxurious, and a "status symbol". That's just so weird to me the whole "most hated but, most imitated" thing.

Off-topic, it must be like living in prison for ordinary people. (except elites) Kim Jong is the warden of that prison facility, and the other government officials are serving him as guards. Guards are monitoring the citizens (prisoners) all the time. Whoever violated that state's rules or made inappropriate activities are reporting to the warden or faced punishment by that guards.

This was a great video. The style really made it much more informative than some of your other videos about North Korea. They were good too, just not this good.

I carried concrete walk slabs to a rooftop when the elevator broken when I was young. That job was fun. The foreman told me, he told the superintendent not to hire a crane, (it was at least 7 stories). The foreman wanted me to quit and got mad to see me happy when I was doing my job with a smile and fast. They later fired me. That guy paid in the future, but I did not wish him harm

All those exotic foods for breakfast that the wealthy family had made me oddly thankful for the pancakes and eggs I had this morning, as opposed to those spiced-up, seasoned, and complex dishes.
