Accessing the fuel filler and tank is notoriously difficult on R230s so maybe bear that in mind before posting comments...?

A couple air fresheners should the trick. ;)

But seriously, I would’ve checked for fuel leaks under the car by the fuel filter & pump before paying hundreds of dollars to have a mechanic remove the roof, interior etc. Sometimes the hoses crack and leak by the clamps.

Funny. I just bought an SL 500 that seems to have that same problem. Didnˋt look into it yet. Is that some common issue on those cars?

it’s really not that big of a job, this mechanic is making it sound like a huge pain in the ass so he can make you think it’s going to take the entire shop of workers to fix the leak.

6 hours of labor.

iv seen this job performed before.

Dude. Spend $20 on a WIS CD and out your vin in and see how the fuel lines run etc. these guys from what they’re doing are making a lot of assumptions
