Hard to blame them, when the Hammer & Sickle is still a revered symbol in Russia

If you’re against communism, maybe you shouldn’t have giant Hammer & Sickle emblems on your statues and public buildings like it’s something to be proud of

JUST the hammer and sickle.
Its replacement will be their national Coat of Arms. That trident symbol

We in Belarus love our history and Soviet symbols are everywhere.
But the choice of Ukrainians is clear and I wish them only the best and peace.

I'm a bit suprised it took them so long. Poland for example ereased preety much all it's comunist era iconography from public space by late 90's-early 2000's. Then again, to be fair, Ukraine was in belly of the red beast far longer than we did.

It seems wrong to remove the hammer and sickle from a WW2 monument because that was the flag under which the people of the USSR defeated the Nazis. I am no fan of the USSR, but even the most staunchly anti communist person has to acknowledge the tremendous sacrifice in lives and contribution towards victory the USSR made during WW2.
