I've been enjoying listening to (and learning from!) Dr. Jeremiah since 1977 when I'd get up early as a 17yr old and help Mom with breakfast and coffee and we'd always have the radio on, listening to Chuck Smith, Dr. David Hocking, The Southwest Radio Church, D James Kennedy, Charles Stanley and Dr. Jeremiah.

My favorite was Chuck Smith's "Word For Today" from Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, CA - partly because he visited our church in Sacramento and after the service I met him and talked with him for a few minutes,
but then "Grace To You" with John MacArthur would come on and I'd quickly change the station

...to Dr. David Jeremiah who was my Mom's favorite, and I remember often thinking that he's about tied with Chuck Smith in my book, and I always enjoyed his melodious voice, which was kind of humorous because right after Dr. Jeremiah was over - J Vernon McGee would come on! 😁

Those were some very special times I now have as memories of Mom and our Christian radio breakfast mornings together.

I testify to what you two are speaking. I oft wondered why I love Spurgeon's sermons

I had severe depression for 10 years. No life event triggered it. Eventually I traced it to five culprits--milk, eggs, sunflower seeds, turkey, and bananas. The seeds also gave me horrendous back pains, while the eggs also gave me asthma attacks. As long as I avoided them I was okay. If I slipped, it was three days of severe depression and then it ended. One day I had a brutal sinus infection. The doctor gave me three powerful antibiotics. I dared eat the foods that gave me depression. It was gone! My guess was that the cause was bad gut bacteria. Now doctors are noticing in their research that antibiotics are successfully being used to treat depression! I tried Zoloft but it didn't work.

It’s mystifying, agonizing and difficult. Even if you understand it, there is no guaranteed way to make it go away.

Literally walked away from my church after they refused to acknowledge depression.
