This is unbelievably accurate. "1234 go f*ck yourself" cracked me up. That's exactly what you feel like saying to them! 😂

"I am moving out of your service area." Shuts them down immediately.

I asked if the phone call was being recorded, and when he said yes i said something along the line "i would like to have in record that i want to disconnect my service, pay the bill for the rest of the month before I move out of the country." No more questions were asked.

Tell them you're going to jail, they'll cancel it right quick once they realize you won't be able to pay them.

I always tell them that I'm moving to a building that isn't wired for their service (if it's cable, the building is fibre) or won't let me put up a dish so I physically can't maintain the service.

The hard part is most companies make metrics around this. So if you're in retention your job is to retain customers and even though customers get sent to that exact department to cancel....the representatives get hit negatively if you cancel and they are required to make attempts to retain. Stressful on both customer and rep. I have so much respect for people on the phone. They are just puppet in the show.❤

This week in the USA, the Federal Trade Commission Announced its Final “Click-to-Cancel” Rule Making It Easier for Consumers to End Recurring Subscriptions and Memberships. Under the new rule, canceling a subscription must involve the same number of clicks as the initial sign-up. Additionally, individuals who registered in person will now be required to have the option to cancel their subscriptions online or over the phone. The rule primarily targets companies that engage in practices such as: (1) misrepresenting their products or services, (2) creating obstacles to cancellation or (3) billing consumers without their consent—such as when a free trial automatically transitions to a paid plan. While the rule focuses on the cancellation process, it also includes provisions that address the entire lifecycle of the subscription relationship.

I HATE having to try to convince customers to keep their account. I try to make it as easy as possible, while not getting in trouble.

Why are they like this? My company basically has a monopoly on the area so it’s them or nothing (as far as non satellite goes because the (2) satellite options are horrendous) and when my great aunts house burned down we were trying cancel because there’s no need to keep paying bills for an address no longer receiving service and the company is literally like “we won’t stop sending bills until you turn the box in” like bruh we can’t. It burned up lmao. And have fun sending the bills. No one is gonna pay them 🙄

I unfortunately do work at a cable internet company in their attention department and we definitely do this but keep in mind when you disconnect it's coming directly from our paycheck so if you were in our shoes would you not fight to save your own money to feed your family

"I'm moving outside of your service. I need to cancel unless you'd like to be reported for financial fraud."

On the plus side, if you're trying to cancel because you can't afford it, that's when they're willing to offer you cheaper internet. I know, because they reduced our price at one point.

i've unfortunately been on the other end. if you don't try to save the service a certain amount of times you get in trouble. if you don't offer whatever promotion is available at the time, you get in trouble. we have techniques, like lowering price, offering temporary free service, offering a promotion, etc. if someone is being a little unclear or doesn't say anything, you have to act under the assumption that they agree with you and want to continue their service. it fucking sucks as a job, let me tell you. we really had no choice or we'd get fucking reamed by the higher ups

AT&T says " We'll give $200 or $300 credit"
Cancels service anyway and receives that statement showing the credit of -$200 or -$300
Years later receive a call from a debt collector saying I owe $200-$300 dollars
Me: I have a statement here that shows credit of THAT EXACT AMOUNT! so apply that
Debt collection agent: OH NO AT&T often lies to their customers and says they have credits when they don't, this only applies if you stayed
Me: OH OK
Debt collector: so when shall we receive this payment now?
Me: NO see ALSO like AT&T I will give you the payment like AT&T gives their incentives to customers maybe this month maybe next month, or maybe never you'll wait and find out

Same thing with phones. I was trying to cancel a cell number that I didn't even have a phone for anymore, and after being bounced between the store and phone support twice, the store finally said I had to call the HQ on the cell phone I DONT HAVE... otherwise I have to call on one of their display phones that has that security cable pulling at the phone the whole 2 hours I was on

When I chaged cable companies, the one I had to begin with told me they could make me a wonderful offer. I asked them if they could cut my bill in half for the same service because that's what my new company was offering me. The.rep just went silent. They had no problem letting me disconnect. Lol😊 I did get a call a week later trying to get me back, but they still couldn't match the deal I got fr8m someone else

I had to show them my dead husbands ashes before they believed me. Even tho I had a death certificate. Yes it is 100 percent true story. 😂😂
