I struggle with this question. I have military pension and VA disability that could technically cover all basic expenses if I cut out everything - I mean everything - and just ate potatoes, beans, and rice. But I don't want to give up my lifestyle. So I think 10K is enough for me.

Deductible? Nah FUCK THAT! other countries don't have it so neither should we.... go into medical debt then refuse to pay it, im on baby step 3 right now and I still have $300 in collections from a medical debt that should be illegal to even pay

I don't agree with the advice for singles with no dependents. I base my efund on how long it takes me to find another job. In this market, I want to have 9-12 months.

Where in the world is 10k 3-6mos worth of expenses? We live off of a % of our take-home, and expenses are around 5k a month (california).
