All I can say to this great song is that when standing at W47th and Broadway with friends when 1999 turned to 2000 was...I Love New York, this is so exciting!

This was our tourism TV ad theme song in the 70s. It spawned the famous “I ❤ New York” trend, which was also featured on the TV spot. It played so often on the TV as a kid 😂

I grew up in upstate New York and I had no idea this was our state song. With the minimal lyrics it sounds like it’s just about New York City. Why not have a song with lyrics that represent the whole state. There is so much more to New York than the city.
