Donna, my upright juniper is over 15 feet tall.  I have been trimming it in a spiral cut and I have never clipped the top of it.  I have let it grow back out and now it is full and round.  I am planning on cutting it in a sphere shape, however I would like to cut it back down to 6-8 foot so I can manage it better.  Can I cut if off without it forking off new growth at the top?
