The mysterious Basilica Cistern in istanbul【Yerebatan Sarayı】
Показать описание
Let's walk inside the Basilica Cistern of Istanbul, one of the most interesting sites of historical Istanbul. There is a small house which is actually the entrance of the Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Sarayı Istanbul). This water cistern was built during the reign of the byzantine emperor Justinian I, in the year 532. This is the same period when the Hagia Sophia Basilica was built. The Cistern is 140 m long and 70 m wide. The Cistern shelters 336 columns and has a water storage capacity of 100,000 tons.
I haven't been here for a long time. To my amazement, entry was free. The restoration in the cistern continues. That's why I only filmed the open parts. But I could film the Medusa sculpteres. When the restoration is done, I'll come back with a better camera.
