I can remember when people were only interested in the white dial but I think as the years have gone by the black dial is nearly on par with the white. ❤

I have a black dial 116520 from 2008. Wears very small for a 40mm. Wore mine only daily for a few months. Went back to my GMTII 16710 Coke for everyday wear. Only comes out for special occasions these days. Was on a list for three years. It’s really a super slick watch but the bezel is a micro scratch magnet.

Fantastic stuff, this 116520 is what started the craze. Back in the day you could pay rolex to change the dial to white for £500. Nostalgic stuff Charlie

The 116520 Daytona reference is so underrated. Everyone is always glazing the 16520 or the 116500 but never the first Daytona to use in house movement

The 116520 white dial is not a panda because it has silver subdials rings not black

I picked up a black face daytona while browsing the Rolex dealer in Schiphol airport 2009. They had taken delivery of the watch 30 minutes before. Right place at the right time €3500

I had one, agree with the comments re look and comfort - the only drawback being the fact that the dial, verses the white face, is practically unreadable for at least half the time. The hands just don't pop out and even if they did they're overpowered by the sundials.

Yes fully agreed. This 116520 Daytona 2014/2015 version with blue luminescent is collectible especially if you can find one come with the APH dial

This is the exact Daytona I have and this SS/SS Black Dial with Silver sub-circles I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on wearing my favorite watch. This Black and White color combination really wears like a Submariner Date ( in my collection also) with everything and every occasion. It was discontinued I believe in 2016.

While white dials seem to be more fashionable and worth more than black, it is ultimately a matter of personal taste. I prefer the black dial on the classic s/steel Daytona and the 42mm Explorer II. However, on the ceramic bezel Daytona I think the white dial provides a nice contrast with the black bezel, while the black dial is a bit too much of one colour.
