How Can You Tell if It's a Sore Throat or Strep Throat?

You wake up with a burning feeling in your throat, and it hurts to swallow. Do you have a sore throat or the dreaded strep throat? Asking these 2 questions can give you the answer.

If you constantly have to spit, and feels like you swallowed a basketball but no cold symptoms, it's likely strep. Go in to the clinic.

You can absolutely have cough and it be strep. Especially if you haven't gotten your antibiotics yet at night it's awful.

It's never that simple. Sure if this is the only illness you have you may fit into that majority of people, but for the minority different symptoms are possible. It's also possible to have more than 1 illness or back to back illnesses (covid then strep for example) that could impact the coughing and fever.
