I bought the first crash damaged Lamborghini Reveulto & now im attempting to rebuild it, but ive not been able to get it started due to a problem with the hybrid system so ive now got a figure out how im going to bypass that problem and continue rebuilding the car.

Hi Mat,
I’m a engineering student from Germany, and I used to work in the crash ECU department. The ECU in your car should be from the same supplier. The issue you’re facing is that fault codes from a HV system can’t be cleared until the interlock on the crash ECU is released (via diagnostics). So, you need to unlock the crash ECU before you’re able to delete the fault codes.

Maybe VW/audi has something similar.🙂

Sure the Lamborghini guys are hands on developing the software to delete the errors, cause this would ve a really bad marketing for them. How can you sell a car that you are unable to repair.

Started watching these videos about 6 months ago… then found myself going back in time watching the older ones to fill time time waiting for the new ones… then rewatched them with my 8 year old son who is obsessed… now find myself checking every day waiting for the new ones to be released…

Hi Mat, I've been dealing with electric vehicles for almost 5 years and we've had many cases where we can't figure out a crash error in the BMS and in most such cases we simply read the BMS from a healthy car, change a few parameters in the software itself if necessary (in most cases not) and put it on the damaged BMS and ready the software and the error is gone, you just have to find someone with a healthy Revuelto and read their BMS.

A friend of mine had same issue with electric BMW last year- he hit the sidewalk while sliding, which didn’t even cause a miss-alignment but deployed the side curtain airbags and had very similar error that BMW couldn’t reset after several months trying. They finally said that they don’t have a software to reset the crash data from the battery, because by design battery needs special safety inspection after a crash, but the battery inspection protocol has not been developed yet and therefore the software hasn’t either. The car was salvaged by the insurance company, friend bought it back and some local BMW ECU master managed to reset it after a couple of months experimenting. He had to desolder the memory chip from the BMS which was inside the battery and had to reset it with a special programmer tool. He said that to his knowledge no one had ever done it before him. Maybe a similar guru is needed here, but it’s terrible how cars are designed nowadays without any option to repair, which inevitably reflects to the insurance cost, so you need to get to the bottom of this problem, so that people know that everything is and should be fixable.

What's crazy, is that you have just become completely priceless in the car world.

The next person that has a revoulto and needs information on bits and pieces with this car, they can only come to you, because you are the only person so have worked out a solution around it.

One of the many things I love about Mat's videos along with the humour and commentary, it's the chance to look under the bonnets of cars that I would never in my life time be able to see, (other than the usual PoV drives and track footage videos, and maybe seeing one in real life zoom past on the motorway) it kinda demystifies these otherwise magic super machines and makes one appreciate the sort of engineering that goes into putting them together, and making them go. I've also picked up some Mat-isms, such as "Mansory Glue" rather than Tiger Seal, and "Mr Push" for any pressure brake bleeding tool.

I'm a Canadian electronic repair tech, I've done many ecu repairs and you can delete data if you have a known good to compare to. Basically resetting it by re-flashing the firmware and if that doesn't work there is a physical problem within the ecu. This can happen because pyro fuses or airbags need an electric charge to set them off via a sensor. Why they tell you to disconnect the battery when messing with that system and ev's/hybrids might have a design flaw or 2 when those systems are activated. One of those flaws is zero ohm resistors bad engineers like to use as bridges or as fuses.

Personally I'd find someone able to read the flash memory of the ecu in question manually connected to the chip on the pcb to see if it can be coded out easily or not. They will also look at the zero ohm resistors I'm sure and replace them if they are bad. I also weld and as my picture shows a classic car guy that knows his way around efi. Hope this reaches Matt as I think it would help

Hi Mat! Just to clarify that ODIS 23.0.1 version what you tried to use was released in August 2023, but Revuelto's production has been started in July 2023 and the first car having been delivered in the last quarter of 2023. Since this time another approx. 8-10 versions came out from the official ODIS and recently, I have updated my PC to the latest ODIS 25.0.1 version which was released on 2nd of April 2025 and definitely the latest VCI (VAS6154A) with a latest firmware need to be used. I am pretty sure if you try that, than there is a chance to successfully reset the Lambo. Additionally, to mention that EV's are a new type of issues. One of my friends have a rear end crashed VW ID3, seatbelts are locked and battery completely shut down. Software was not enough to unlock the battery however new pyro fuse was installed, the whole battery controller had to be replaced (old battery cells remained the same), after that car was able to reset and started. So, there is a chance that the whole module needs to be replaced, but firstly in your case I would try to reset the Revuelto with a latest official VAG software... Good luck!!!
