We go to Kampala, Uganda, to speak to climate activist Vanessa Nakate on the occasion of her first book being published, “A Bigger Picture: My Fight to Bring a New African Voice to the Climate Crisis.” In an extended interview, she describes the challenges of being a young Ugandan woman from a continent that contributes less than 4% of the world’s carbon emissions yet suffers the worst consequences of the climate crisis and is often ignored by the Global North. “There won’t be climate justice if specific groups of people are being left behind,” says Nakate, founder of the Africa-based Rise Up Movement. “We are facing the same storm, but we are definitely in different boats.”

As a photographer, when taking pictures you take photos so you don't have to crop out later. This photographer took this photo like this to crop her out. He put her on
the end which unbalanced his picture. She should have been put in the middle--a sign of a good photographer. He failed the snif test on this one 🤬
Such racist Muzungas don't realize their time is up.

You solve the climate crisis not through theatrical speeches scolding the poor for leaving a light bulb on but by holding those in power accountable. Unfortunately widespread civil unrest seems required at this point in such a corrupted global economy for the collective poor to piece together their political power to potentially demand more sustainable and democratic economies and societies.

Worst than climate change is the poverty and Hardship in Uganda that needs your voices..
what would the uneducated know about Climate to be able to help?
Uganda Schools has been locked down since 2020 Covid till date. The youngsters are leaving the country to work as house helps and cleaners in middle East.. they need the voices of people like you..

We in the countries who are most responsible for climate change are not standing up to the fossil fuel corporations in a United voice to stop the government from allowing the further development of fossil fuels. It's our tax dollars that we want spent on alternative energy not on fuels that feed extinction of the world!!! Right now one man stands in the way of survival.

There is a guy who invented a water machine also perhaps building green houses in safe spots protected against water rise and pestilence. People who continue to defile our natural resources is like a Ballon slowly deflating.

Developed countries..tax payers.. are not financially responsible... The corporations who profited..knowing the damage they would cause are financially responsible. Period. So hold them accountable. Tho I know we are a corporate run gov... I as single parent did nothing to the African continent.. but Exxon and the like did and can afford to repay their debt to humanity.
They need to pay the piper. AND WE NEED TO BECOME ENERGY EFFECTIVE OURSELVES.

The way Amy cuts off her guest, especially today's, this wonderful human being: Vanessa Nakate is simply rude. Can someone else host this show, you, Juan?

The problem with global North financing global equity for the global south is the same that build back better or any massive government plan of "action " it will be written and distributed in a way that good sounding programs will only benefit large multinational corporations and obscenely wealthy people
