Vanessa Nakate: The tireless journey of a climate activist

Vanessa Nakate is a young climate justice activist from Uganda 🇺🇬.

She is a @UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and Founder of the Rise Up movement for young African climate activists. 

Nakate was one of the nominees for the 2023 @NobelPrize.

She started the Vash Green Schools Project, which aims to transition schools in Uganda to solar energy and install eco-friendly stoves in these schools. As of now, the project has carried out installations in 33 schools impacting about 11.000 children.

Nakate was on the list of the @TIME's cover 2021, @TIME100 Next 2021, @GlobalLandscapesForum 16 Women Restoring the Earth 2021, Elisabeth Haub Award for Environmental Law and Diplomacy 2021, @BBC 100 Women 2020, Angelina Jolie’s Interview 2020, Top 100 Most Influential Africans 2020 by Youth Lead Young Leader of the Sustainable Development Goals by the @unitednations in 2020, and many more.

She was awarded the Der Helmut-Schmidt-Zukunftspreis 2022 in Germany, the Next Generation Award at the 12th Annual DVF Awards 2021 in France, The Most Influential Young Africans 2020 by Youth Lead, and many more.

In the midst of her busy life, she wrote a book entitled A Bigger Picture.

Nakate holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Makerere University Business School.
