As Tunnocks is a Scottish company, their tea cakes are how tea cakes are in Scotland. The English ones are more similar to hot cross buns. Sorry to be THAT person but I honestly wouldn’t have said anything if it wasn’t for the fact you specified England but as a Scot who moved to England as a twenty year old in the mid 90’s, the likes of Tunnocks and Irn Bru were rarities down here (depending on which area you are in and likely more available in larger areas) at that time.
