CITY Montessori school in India is the world's biggest - with a staggering 47,000 pupils. It is so large a packed Anfield could comfortably attend - with room to spare. The school - known as CMS for short - employs an army of 3,800 staff, including teachers, support staff, cleaners, rickshaw drivers, and even electricians, carpenters and gardeners. It has over 1,000 classrooms, 3,700 computers and goes through thousands of pounds worth of stationary and books each year. Based in the city of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, CMS was set up by Dr. Jagdish Gandhi, 75, and his wife Bharti in 1959 with just five pupils. Today, it sprawls over 20 campuses across the city - and is still growing despite doubling in size during the last 14-years alone.

After reading many comments...i would like to answer a few questions posed by some people....
How did CMS become the world's most populous school?
1. Firstly population density in India is high. I admit that.
2. The quality of education that they are providing is top class. Believe me no students fails at this very school. Actually more than 90% of the students in Intermediate and Highschool(Std 12 and Std 10 respectively) score above this year around 1200 students scored more than 90%
3. Then they also teach you things other than studies. Moral Teaching & Peace Education.
4. Global Exposure is provided to students and a lot of international competitions are held here at CMS
there are many things more but I will stop here...
By the way, why I am writing this?
Well, I am a CMS pass out and i reaaalllyyy misss my school days!!

to all of you who think that all the 47, 000 students are attending 1 campus...then you are wrong...there are 20 branches of CMS spread across the city!! so basically the students in each branch is aprrox. how do I know that? Well I have been a part of the CMS family for 13 years and I am proud of it now!! :)
