Since it's been like 4 years since I made my last RUST game, I figured it was time to explain them. I put this video together quickly just to answer some common questions, mostly the "story" of RUST.

The fact the best "myth" turned out to be some dude just making horror games Is pretty cool and honestly even if the games are old and most are broken It's still nostalgic and fun to play the games sometimes

It's oddly heartwarming to see what was once such an ominous figure shown to be another dev, just trying to put out their passion to the world. It gives me motivation to strive for my own goals, knowing every legend started the same way at some point.

"Close your eyes, and picture those games. What do you see?"
... a 20 year old man screaming at the top of his lungs due to scary legos

It's nice to see you revisiting your work, I was mostly fascinated to your games when Albert posted stuff about you, I hope you work on other myths someday.

I used to think the story of Rust was about a guy who was in a mental asylum and had multiple personalities but now finding out that there was nothing behind it is so funny to me. I am so glad you're in peace with your past and open about it because most people who quit stuff loath it. I will forever miss Rust because it was a big part of my childhood and I'm so grateful you made smth this good.

I remember as kids me and my friends ran into each others houses. We would sit and play your games endlessly, “analysing” every detail in every game you made cuz we genuinely thought it was made from some guy who was a serial killer. I was never into roblox myths EVER besides Rust 010. It was simple to follow and scary enough for its time. Thanks for being a part of my childhood <3

I definitely believed that Rust was a fully fledged out story, but now that you revealed the "story" of everything, I now see Rust as a collection of games showcasing your building/coding talents. Good job, man.

You may not have written a story for Rust, but the story wrote itself. Thats what made it interesting because it left people guessing.

man this brings a tear to my eye. such a scary guy who I genuinely had nightmares about turns out to be a young dev who just wanted to have some fun. if you asked young me all those years ago who I thought rust was, I would've said a grown man who created scary games with all this lore. now im watching a video with animal crossing music in the back on this teenager explaining those memories to me.

These games were honestly a huge part of my childhood and I loved how simple yet terrifying they were. I really enjoyed the fake players aspect and just the constant mystery surrounding your character and why these different places existed in the first place. It was really cool to see the behind the scenes of all the games; and even though there wasn’t much of a story, the atmosphere that was built throughout the games was enough to make up for it. I hope you’re well and can’t wait to see any future projects that might come about.

I love how Rust in reality was really just a horror passion project, some random art you made that blew up. It really shows how much you cared about the horror genre and the art of video games, and how communities really contribute to the lore and the meaning of such media. It's sad most of the games are slightly broken, but I think just having them exist and the memories is fine. Rust was one of my favorite "myths" on the Flamingo Youtube channel and your games really were a part of my childhood an the development of some of my friendships, thank you for sharing with us your art, and it's great and just so heartwarming to see everyone back and just taking a walk down memory lane while we look at some nostalgia and talk about the Rust games like we're old friends catching up.

It's so surreal to see the myth that made up most of my childhood finally be explained and given answers, who knew that the terrifying games were just a passion project? I certainly didn't. But it's nice to get explanations about the designs and other things.

I was just a kid when Rust was big, and it's kind of crazy to think that was a full 6 years ago. Thank you for it, it was one of the most unique experiences on Roblox at the time because of how ominous everything felt. It was really mysterious in a fun way, it felt like there was a huge story to it but honestly I can't blame you that it ended up to be you just having fun making atmospheric horror games. I'm a novice developer on Roblox myself now, and I can understand pretty much every point you make in this video. It's kind of funny, you ended up sparking a whole subgenre of Roblox games just by having fun doing what you like.

After finding out that all of it didn't actually connect and had no purpose really changes the view on everything, i remember being up at like 3 am going through the games trying to find out the story behind it all *yyyyears* ago. definitely one of my favorite "myths" or atleast horror game makers (in your eyes) in my opinion. cant wait to see your future content though, rust!

Everyone is their own worst critic. Even tho you didnt have a story for your games, people still enjoyed them, enjoyes the lore they brought. The mystery. Dont be hard on yourself Rust, your games are great.

As someone who used to be obsessed with RUST_010, I'm very glad you finally decided to explain your games.

I used to be so obsessed, I think I remember more about your games than you do yourself lmao, so here are some things you missed that I personally remember:

-The developer password in the database DID in fact have a correct password, which is "devlogin123". It would say "Success" although it did nothing.

-I remember the applications in the computer in R U S T. One of them was a command prompt where most commands didn't work. However, typing "execute" would make the CMD say "Success! Please wait...", although nothing happened aswell. Somebody said if you were to type that in then go to Smile! and do the ending, you would get a different one (Although that's most likely not true, but it'd be nice if you clarified).

-In "It's out there...", the computer at the end of the game would lead you to a place called "in the distance...", which you missed. Was there any way to open the barricaded door at the end of that game? (Or do you not remember?)

-"look behind you..." has an ending where if you touch the sewer gate thingy, it would lead you to an ending similar to Smile!, where you get murdered by some guy.

-What was "it"? Before the myth ended, you would always ramble on to Albert about some creature called "it". And you said it was the creature who chased you down in "can you see it?". I assume you didn't plan out anything and it was just some random thing you made up with no relevance.

-WHAT WAS THE SECURITY PASSWORD IN FROWN FOR GOD'S SAKE /j

So yeah, just wanted you to explain some things you didn't explain in the video. It's fine if you don't answer.

Edit: OH YEAH I FORGOT, Can you explain what that "News616" video was?

recently rewatched all the rust videos. Its honestly really hard to belive 2018 was 6 years ago. I rememder coming home from school and and watching these on my familys 2007 imac. That thing still works, its a beast. I honestly died laughing watching this, seeing how you didnt think about most of the lore stuff. Still, i was horrifed of rust, even though it never was a true cohesive story it still was really entertaining.
