Much simpler way for this I think if you first recognize : tan theta = y/x. Problem becomes: r = y/x * 1/cos theta. r * cos theta = y/x. Use: r cos theta = x. You now have: x = y/x. y=x^2.

Rutgers University student here. You have helped me through Calc I and II... might be taking Calc III just because I like math! (Biochemistry major here).

I love how you can make math funny and enjoyable, “and this needs no introduction, this is our good old friend y=x^2” 😂🥲

i have a question, don't we have to make condition like 'x is not zero' ?

You can solve this easier. Multiple cosx and r equal to x, and sinx/cosx is equal to tanx then tanx is equal y/x.

but my problem says to convert r= tan (theta - pi/4) * sec (theta - pi/4) to cartesian
