That squeaking sound is not a wiper problem, it’s the window that’s dry. Add rain x or nufinsh to the window and boom problem solved. Smooth and noiseless wipers.

I did the same test on my 2016 Camry. I got the same results. Thank you for the informative video. GOD bless you, sir.

I don't understand a thumbs down. Here's a guy taking his time to make a video and teach us something he learned from a top notch mechanic Scotty Kilmer. That's whose picture it is at the beginning of the video. Give the guy some credit for trying to help us.

I seem to remember him applying it on dry blades. I think the idea was to make the blades more effective at clearing water, snow, debris, etc... and not focussed on squeaking

Yes, after applying and keeping it for 3/4 hrs just wipe it lightly, that is all you have to do

That noise come from old rough rubber and maybe because some graphite coating was removed. Anyway, after cleaning of blades and widshield you can shave the blades with a specual cuting device like Ecocut Pro to reveal a better smooth rubber surface for best results reducing squeaking noise. Thos is a possible solution, but some reviewers had bad experiences with Ecocut Pro.

Replacing them with Bosch wipers is about the best solution; I did that and they wiped smoothly, quietly and very effectively. A small expense compared to the price of the car :)

Best thing to clean dirty wipers is bug and tar remover, after cleaning let it dry real good then use a silicone spray to restore the wipers. I've done this for years and never had any problem.

This make so much sense, thank you. So I found that when I blast the windscreen with the heater on full heat the noise begins to stop but after a while comes back as heater is turned off, so softening the blades with heat will work as this will allow the blade to flow rather than push against. Also this is a brand new car with brand new wipers could also be standard of blade.

Try using ArmorAll on the blades, it reconditions the rubber & usually eliminates the squeaks

Worked for me, no more juddering, or smears and no squeaks so have to give the WD40 method a big thumbs

WD-40 is a penetrating lub., you need to let it sip into the rubber at some point. That's the reason it says don't use of rubber or seal because it will make them expand.
For wiper may be different case because the wiper arm have spring to press it onto the wind screen surface.

the WD40 needs to be used from the first install of new blades and reapplied about once a month.

the other half of this equation is you need to wax your glass at the same time.
this reduces drag and crates beading of the rain water and also adds lubrication for the blade.
the main reason for the WD40 is to coat the rubber to act as part lubrication and to seal the rubber so it doesn't oxidise as fast, extending the blade life out to several years longer than would otherwise be the case.

you can't "recondition": oxidised and worn rubber. you need to protect it from the start.

With the cost of new windshields being so high now it's wiser to not mess with wipers and just replace with refills at least every 12 months. Why risk having your glass scratched? Depending on your conditions, a quick clean of the wipers every few weeks should keep them in good working order. Thanks for the video.

Sir, thanks for your suggestion. As for the squeaky sound, I watched a guy turning the rubber blade to the other end ie. in Malay, 'terbalikkan' the blade.

best trick i ever seen just rub a little brake fluid on your wiper blades it cleans them up realy nice

It lasts for around a week. It's a temporary fix though.

Also one tip - spray wd 40 directly on the blade and wipe of the excess. And let it sit for around 3-4 hours. And then it works just fine.

Use wd 40 silicone lubricant. It works way better. I have it applied on my car since last 30 day. Works great for me.

looks like a good method -- although if you wiped new unused blades with WD40 I'm sure you would get black marks on the cloth.

The proof was right there, WD-40 is a good product but it doesn't solve everything. New blades would probably be better. Good job, sir!

Using WD40 or any type of alcohol is a bad choice. Here's why. The rubber wipers are impregnated with a coating or graphite from the factory so they don't "screech" when in motion. Using WD40 or alchol removes most (if not all) of the carbon - that's why there is so much black stuff on your cloth. A better idea is to use a moist micro fibre cloth and wipe the blades gently to remove any foreign objects or grease. Then clean your window with a quality automotive window cleaner that is ammonia free. You may have to clean the window a number of times. Good luck.
