Lol this is so true! The first time I saw a British guy wash dishes this way, I was shocked...like, what about rinsing off the soap?! I thought he was just being lazy 😆

Exactly….. my first big horrifying discovery, when moving to SE Asia. The realisation I ate soap for a mere 20plus years😮😅

British friend: You want to come to my house for dinner this Sunday. I will be cooking.
Me: Sure, but first show me how you wash your dishes.

The first thing that came to mind when I see you filling up the sink:

Why this guy wasting water?

This video triggered me so much! When I moved to the UK, after a month or so, I found my British Housemate doing this. I felt sick to my stomach to realize that this is how they wash dishes. Since then, I would wash every utensil before using them. 😂

We use this way only with more quantity to wash especially on kenduri kawin. ( Wedding ) but we rinse with water back.

So they never understood why they're usually 2 side in a sink?!
French don't want to eat soap, when we have to wash a lot of crockery, we use one side of sink with soap, the other with clear water to wash out, and a lot of people, wash out a second time with fresh water too. My grandmother used a basin for second wash out immediately after first one.

I was a student in Sheffield UK 20 years ago.. Got t he first culture shock of my life when my British housee has soap water dripping from his dishes.. But he was the clean one.. I have seen my friends mates never washed their dishes unless they need to use it.. The stained dishes will just stay in the sink.

Its literally like if you take a shower and then just leave the bathroom without rinsing off the soap.

We became to sensitive to soap smell and when we go to hotel rooms, we make sure there is no soap/chemical smell in the glasses/cups... or we just rinse then once more before using them.

Cara dulu, ada satu besen untuk sabun, satu besen untuk air, cara basuh lebih kurang British style, tapi dengan besen air bilas disebelah.

Pastikan kotoran juga dibilas sedikit sebelum masuk besen sabun.

in malaysia we do also like that (in kenduri gotong royong-maybe peolple nowdays not have it anymore there more easier to tender with cathering) but after soap process.we have another container or tong drum fill with water to rinse the plate n clean up soap..

Dude I was born and raised in the UK and never in my life have I filled the sink to wash dishes. I’ve always used the first method…. I’ve clearly got Malaysian blood somewhere 😂. No wonder we get hit by water bans every summer if people are washing like this!

My husband and in-laws used to do dishes that way and they’re Canadians. I went and said “No no no…” 😂

Filling the sink with soapy water technique actually could work when there is a lot of dishes to do. I’d say if more than 20 dishes or so. But always it has to be rinsed off with water

I saw Australians doing that too. You're not alone...
