You know you need a good sleeping bag, but who wants to spend $200+?? There are a lot of bad sleeping bags out there, so what is the best budget sleeping bag? Can you get a good sleeping bag that will keep you warm in the mountains for less than $60? I think the answer is yes! In this video I’ll share four budget sleeping bags and tell you which sleeping bag I think is the best! Each of these sleeping bags cost less than $60, but there are some big differences between them, so you’ll want to make sure you get the best sleeping bag for you. I am all about the budget backpacking gear, and since your sleeping bag is such a big part of that I think it’s important to get a good one--but you don’t have to break the bank!

Great video Jeff! This will really help out people who are on a budget but need a bag to get down to a certain temp. It's also refreshing to not just see the same names all the time, UGQ, Enlightened Equipment etc.

The Army-issued sleep system is pretty awesome. It's a lightweight bag that goes inside of a heavier weight bag, and those go inside of a GoreTex shell. All three layers keep you warm and dry in -30F. But in warmer weather you can use one or the other of the bags. And it all compresses in a cinch sack pretty small.

Thanks for this video! It's tough finding information on the more budget-friendly options, but what I really like is the stuff sack comparisons! As a backpack hunter, space is key to make sure I have what I need for however many days I'll be out.

I never had issues with the cold in bags. When it got really cold I just wore my down jacket in my sleeping bag and that usually does the trick for me.

First thing I want to say is that we appreciate your reviews, and one of the main reasons is that you buy your own stuff, and we can be sure you're not feeling any pressure to say good things because some company spotted you some free swag. I think I mentioned it when we were talking PLBs a few weeks ago, and there was that review for the SpotX from the guy that got it for free. Just didn't feel like we could trust it.

Pretty much, Teton sports is the way to go on this from what we see. I especially like the prank potential on the straps for the Leaf compression sack. As we're still getting our legs together on day hikes, we're not doing overnight backpacking trips... yet. But some car camping to get closer to some spots we want to hit is in the works, and backpacking is likely to commence next year. A good bag is key because we can see some really wild temperature swings up here. If I can ask, how tall are you, and are the Teton's good for someone around 6 feet? I ask, because I've bought bags in the past, and felt like they were made for people that were 5'8" at most.
