Steps that I have developed over time within my companies for problem solving:
1) Identify the Problem, write it down.
2) Come up with a solution, write it down.
3) Identify whom is the right person to implement this solution.
4) Set a hard date for the solution to be completed.
5) After the solution is implemented, reevaluate if the original problem was solved. If it wasn't or new problems were created go back to step one and repeat.

The lake is half full of algae on the 29th day. Here is the maths 2^(n) =(2^(30))/2, where n is the number of days it takes to have the lake half full of algae;therefore, 2^(n) = 2^(30-1) thus n= 30-1 =29

The answer to the lake full of algae is this:
- if the number of days it takes the lake to get full of algae is 30 days
-and the number of algae doubles in size every single day

THEN:
The lake will be half-full on the 29th day. Because on the 29th day the algae will double in size and therefore fill up the lake on the 30th day. (as stated above)

PS: notice how I didn't need any calculus to do it, just basic logic. Interesting, right?

Let n be the number of days taken for half full
Let A be the amount of algae it started with on Day 0
It gets full in 30 days

Half Full = Full / 2
A × 2^n = ( A × 2^30 ) / 2
Dividing by A both sides
2^n = 2^29
n = 29

This is maths, but it is intuitively understood that just a day before it's full (30), it'd be half full because it doubles everyday (or in 24 hours), which is 30 - 1 = 29.

29. I have a problem currently with the Wyoming Secretary of State Business Division where I am changing from a non-profit to a L3C. I filed all the PROPER paperwork and just got a rejection letter saying items had to be changed or fixed. Do you know they NEVER showed on a PDF any of the places it needed to fixed or changed!

Fortunately I think I found it myself but now have to wait for someone to answer my email and voice mail!

So why can't bureaucratic organizations help solve problems instead of making them worse?
