As a curly girl who was 17 in 2007, it took til my mid 20s to know what to do with my hair (when I was 20 I just chopped it all off out of frustration lol). My routine was literally coat my hair in copious amounts of that blue gel and that WAS IT. No YouTube tutorials, no family member with curly hair to help...nada.

Honestly I think it's cute! I was a curly kiddo then, definitely too young for heat tools, but this was one of the hairdos I aspired to. And I still like it! (Even if not the methods used to get there.) The other *very* 2000s style I would try to do was the "bangs-over-one-eye" look. Never had much success there! It took me until high school to actually understand my curls, but I've rocked them for years.

I grew up in a small town pretty sheltered from everything and I didn't realize that other people straightened the front pieces of their curly hair. so glad to know I wasn't the only one 🤣
