Worth stripping cables?

I love recycling. I also love recycling machines that you throw stuff at and it generates proverbial gold you just need to cash in. It's magic.

Definitely worth it. I did this when I worked in the exhibition industry.
At the end of a show like The Ideal Homes for instance, I’d get Loads of left over cables/wire.
Back in the workshop, I’d strip one end, put the copper in a vice and pull off all the rubber. Easy money. 👍🏾

I've started to collect copper wires and cables sadly don't no how to strip it if I can find a small machine I will be more then happy to strip it

Right now bare bright is rougly at $4 a pound if you leave the insulation on they pay you roughly $2, so therefore yes it is worth it to strip it. For a little extra work you het 100% more money.

That's why thrs a poor rate for copper in the run upto Christmas, because this what everyone does it so they lower what they pay

When I was little, I use to see tweekers strip copper wire. The scrap yard pays for more stripped copper wire since it less work for whoever is buying the copper wire to recycle.

Its easy to spot the commenters who never stripped wire for cash- they're the ones claiming it isnt worth the (minimal)spare time or trying to put an hourly rate on what spare time you use as if that's a cost. They dont even know how quick those machines are.

Only the big cables are good to strip more than 4-6mm

Ive scrapped a few abandoned buildings before and got around 2k worth of copper out of each one

Minus the machine, the time and the power, no no its not worth it unless your time is worthless to you. My time is worth $80 an hour so this would literally be a waste of money.

So £14 each for how many hours work, less electricity, rent etc. Sure go ahead if you like but you will need a paying job as well.
