The Non-Canon Expert explains the final test that Darth Sidious put his apprentice Darth Maul through to become a true Sith Lord within Bane's Order of the Sith Lords, a test so brutal it would cause Maul to lash out and attempt to kill his Master!

Later in his life he would face his master again, and be ultimately defeated and sidious showed no mercy in defeating maul and his brother when he realised they were a threat to his rule

You should read Maul Lockdown and Shadow Hunter if you haven't, they're amazing books. I also recommend discussing some of their content, as there are some truly interesting things within them (e.g. Maul vs a Taozin and Maul vs a Yuuzhan Vong).

Obi Wan was able to defeat Darth Maul as a Padawan, but wasn't strong enough to defeat Sidious as a Jedi Master, so how would Darth Maul ever be powerful enough to kill Darth Sidious?

Darth Maul was such a badass! They should of had him cutting his way through the Star Wars Universe instead being cut in half. Then the Dicks at Disney had his last stand against Kenobi end in one stroke instead of an epic battle.😠
