It's simply... the R1 it is the R1..from the 1997 when the R1 destroyed the motorcycle competitors...if you buy a R1, it gets in the blood and in the soul...
not everyone has the balls to have an R1

At first I hated the lights. 20 minutes later, 2 videos, and lots of pictures I can officially say that I changed my mind. I still like the weird bug look of the current model though. It looks a lot more aggressive, this has that sleek cut threw the wind look.

Beautiful design and engineering. This is going to be the best production SuperBike available. Yamaha always delivers. The Ducati's break and the parts/labor are expensive.

I think it looks fucking awesome. Very functional and business-like, right down to the small projector headlights. The proportions seem spot-on too. Small and lithe but without the overly-stubby tail section of the Panigale. I love it and just might put a deposit down after (hopefully) seeing it at Long Beach IMS next weekend.

Looks good to me! Aesthetically speaking, the R1 looks much better than the Kawi H2, at least imo. However, my 2012 CBR1000rr with a hyperflo pipe sounds better than this R1.

Nice bike I don, t understand some comments as suzuki never move on or change yamaha do and some ppl don, t like radical change.i will be getting one as I, ve waited for suzuki to change going back to yamaha.

These new R1's look really futuristic! Although i'm not a big fan of how the paint scheme turned out or the headlights. Can't wait to see what Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki come up with to compete with this!

Better than the European commercial for the simple fact you actually get to hear the bike the whole time instead of some music and no exhaust music.

Not going to discuss how the bike looks but how does it ride that's what's important.The looks are different I will agree, some people don't like my 2012 Yamaha R1, but I do and that's what's important.I rode many different 1000's before I bought my 2012, this bike just felt better.So buy the bike on how it feels on the road or track.I am an older rider 46 years old and I grew up riding the old school bikes with no traction control or other enhancements.But all these electronic enhancements make riding safer and are confidence inspiring for less experienced riders.
