I’m sorry, sir, but I am the best bird lawyer in the world.

I get asked a lot about whether being a practicing attorney is like being a lawyer on TV. I love watching legal movies and courtroom dramas. It's one of the reasons I decided to become a lawyer. But sometimes they make me want to pull my hair out because they are ridiculous. Today I'm taking a break from teaching law students how to crush law school to take on lawyers in the movies and on TV. While all legal movies and shows take dramatic license to make things more interesting (nobody wants to see hundreds of hours of brief writing), many of them have a grain of truth.

This is part of a continuing series of "Lawyer Reaction" videos. Got a legal movie or TV show you'd like me to critique? Let me know in the comments!

All clips used for fair use commentary, criticism, and educational purposes. See Hosseinzadeh v. Klein, 276 F.Supp.3d 34 (S.D.N.Y. 2017); Equals Three, LLC v. Jukin Media, Inc., 139 F. Supp. 3d 1094 (C.D. Cal. 2015).

Typical legal disclaimer from a lawyer (occupational hazard): This is not legal advice, nor can I give you legal advice. Sorry! Everything here is for informational purposes only and not for the purpose of providing legal advice. You should contact your attorney to obtain advice with respect to any particular issue or problem. Nothing here should be construed to form an attorney client relationship. Objection: doesn't the name Legal Eagle mislead the jury into believing that you are, in fact, familiar with bird law and the ins and outs thereof

Where are these fake hands I keep seeing mentioned in this episode? I only see Uncle Jack's big, masculine hands. Hands that tell a story of greatness. Hands perfect for wrestling with nephews.

Objection: The fact that the writers got EVERYTHING wrong suggests they had to know enough to know what was correct.

It's so interesting watching a non-Sunny watcher getting dropped in after a decade of running gags have been established

This guy clearly went to Harvard, but doesn't know a thing about Bird Law.

Objection: Claiming those are fake hands is speculation. Jack has big hands, they are definitely real hands

I love hearing a real lawyer actually say “bird law” it means we won on some small level 😂

Between Maureen being a cat, the fake hands, bird law and so much more, this would be a WILD and confusing episode for someone unfamiliar who hasn't seen more episodes of Always Sunny.

It's just really beautiful seeing someone unfamiliar with Sunny jumping right into the thick of it

This lawyer clearly doesn't drink any fight milk, he's not fighting like a crow, he's fighting like bastard man.

He cut out the best part, where Uncle Jack points his finger and his fake hand comes flying off, as he’s screaming, “nobody look, nobody look, nobody look!” 😂🤣🤣

Yeah but let's say you and Charlie Kelley go toe to toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor.

Why does he keep saying Charlie's uncle is wearing fake hands? Clearly he just has large manly hands

Of course the REAL issue is that you can't examine 2 witnesses at the same time, not that Charlie asked an ornithologist to speak bird parseltongue

I just absolutely love the fact Guillermo Del Toro plays Papi McPoyle

A big part of Always Sunny's comedic formula involves an ever growing discography of recurring in-jokes with with audience. The bird law gag goes back to an earlier season and was fairly well established by this point. The hands gag is based on the character having small hands and being hyper sensitive about it. I love this absurd show to death.

Never heard of bird law? Yeah this dude definitely aint a real lawyer. Bird law is the first thing you learn in law school, everyone knows that

I would 100% allow this entire case to go through to the end. It's too important for the advancements of bird law
