By popular demand, I'm dissecting an episode of Suits - of at least a couple of courtroom scenes which blew my mind with implausibility. Analyzing ex parte interactions with the judge, to the legal concept of "Vicarious Liability", to objections, to trial by jury, this Viva Frei Law Vlawg has it all - action, drama, humour, and knowledge. Enjoy! Peace out! And be sure to like, share, comment & subscribe!

I’m shocked that a show about law doesn’t have any real lawyer to check for such inconsistencies!

A judge calling for a trial for the next day is like a sports league drafting new players and then having the first game of the season the next day

My favorite thing about Suits ( And I truly loved this show, just binged it) is how the can ascertain an entire case/claim/suit within a 2 second glance at the blue folder handed to them...😂

That was fascinating how inaccurate to real life that show was. I enjoyed how you broke it down. I'm curious now to ask, what show with law activities in it that you have seen has been the most accurate?

Now i know why I've always loved the early LAW&ORDER with DA's Benjemin Stone and Jack McCoy. I loved the arguing and counter arguing. I loved that every episode showed you a slice of NYC. the photograph was beautiful and the colors where rich and the light defused and even.

Objection: it seems perfectly plausable that a taxi driver in NY would scrimp and save just to be approved of a loan, what seems more curious is that the loan would expire in a week. What is expiring? Was the loan conditional on him getting the medallion immediately? Obviously one could criticise any TV show until cows fly to the moon, I just don't think he was necessarily lying about saving.

haaaa! that was hilarious. "Trial starts tomorrow". Ex-parte 'communication'<---NOT. and coaching a witness? LOL that was great! lovely job. I believe the law in the US is quite close to Canadian law and protocol as I'm sure you already suspect. Great job! it reminded me of when you're around lawyers in the household and they break down the inaccuracies in the Matlock series -- or something like that. LOL you brought back memories.

You should look at a scene from one of the newer seasons. Even I thought this was inaccurate. I want to see you react to a case I thought was more realistic. I don't remember my thought about most of the trials, but the trial of Mike Ross would be cool to see.

An actress from this show married a prince. Think about it.

@14:14 As a landlord can legal fees be written into the lease if the landlord prevails in court the tenant would have to pay legal fees? Wouldnt that be biding as a contract if the tenant agreed to it?
@8:13 would it be out of line if the Judge Brought up the two different stories where he said he got a loan then told the jury he saved for it? or can only the opposing Lawyer bring it up?

Your comment on opening statements made me think of a quote from Proverbs

"The one who states his case first seems right until the other cross examines him"

Can you do a video on counter suing? When is it applicable? How does it work? Why don't defendants do it every time? What are its risks?

I’m a retired law enforcement sergeant and over my career I had lots of exposure to lots of attorneys and judges and court rooms.
I watched a few episodes of this television show and just wanted to throw my boot through the TV so I stopped watching it.
That said, I have had many friends who are attorneys, many of whom I’ve had a beer with. You look like a straight up lawyer, someone to have a beer with.
