2018 BMW i3s review in a snow blizzard

Показать описание
The i3s gets a bit of extra go (although not much) and with the sharper handling and wider stance, you really can derive enjoyment from driving it quickly. However, you can only really try to do that in warmer months, because we had it during a snow storm when temperatures fell way below freezing and this had a dramatic effect on the range.

Summer in the city with no highways, just regular roads up to 90km/h, I easily do 300km range with my i3s. I like the car a lot!

You can easily 180 km in winter driving, and 250 summer. It’s an awesome car, and you can push it further if driven correctly.

Simple logic dictates that 22% of a 94ah battery will easily get you 24km with all the climate control and seat heating you want. Its estimate was based on the track driving.

Well presented along with a good sense of humour 😊👍🏻

You take it to the track, run the battery down and complain about range, terrible review.

I liked this review, I wondered just how this car is in winter weather.

The window fogging is an issue due to the size of the window.

If battery extend a little mote with beefer tires for off road it could be a top pick...

The front wheels are quite thine for winter tieres. I have a Bmw i3 and the front winter wheels are the same thickness as the back ones. Wiered 🤔

Well this reminds me of my first car years ago that did not have a heater in the cabin, o happy days frozed stiff driving Should have put the heated seat on for a short burst of 2 mins to get a quick warm up, now lets think about this everyone, the media, says its a city car so why do i need 180 hp motor I would like 150 hp motor and more range and warm feet and no Eco Pro which always causes the windows to steam up, but this brave chap did not order the DAEP option ( drivers arm extension pack ) for winter driving so you can reach the windscreen and clean it, in the UK it.s a driving offence to have windows steamed up and not clear especially the windscreen But all that said it's all good fun and I hope he thawed out in reception !!!

Of course the i3 REX (range extender) is much better in winter as you have unlimited range, thought he BEV has a heat pump that provides heat more efficiently. (I fixed it!)

You know they have snow tires for these cars

Maybe it's all just in the name of fun, but: the guy is doing drifting, in the snow, with a tall, narrow tired electric car made for the city. In addition, the i3, as most electric cars, heats up the cabin faster than a cold-started internal combustion engine car. It can also heat the cabin while charging, even when the motor is off. I don't understand why his hands were shaking, at the end.

"Dear God help me." Yikes...rear wheel drive...sigh...not sure how it will handle NE winters. My Prius was front wheel drive (I know it's hybrid) but it handle respectably in the snow. Do you have range extender?

Also this car only seats 4 passengers and has the smallest boot space of any ev on the market at this time. Practical it is not. Families please note.

If you turn off the nav and use your phone for directions, you'll gain about 8 or more miles of range.
