how is this inflation?
I paid $479 for a pixel 3a xl when it was released. So here we are 5 years later and $21 more and people complain. People aren't even realistic

Here in India it's 638 $. It's no more a budget friendly, it's budget killer phones these days

In sweden the 8a is almost 30% cheaper. The specs are almost identical so i think it actually is a good choice to go for the 8a

The price difference is $200. People keep saying it’s only $50 more but that isn’t true. The Pixel 8 went back to $699 as soon as the 8a dropped. It will certainly go on sale again, but the 8a will as well. Google will maintain a price difference. It’s not as simple as it’s just $50 more for the Pixel 8.

In Canada at BestBuy (with a $150 discount), I just picked up a Pixel 8a for $398 US (or $529 CDN)! No brainer to go with a Pixel 8a given how comparable it is to the 8.

The 8 is $200 more. That is not similar in price at all.

I think for the price, 8a is the way to go. $850 AUD vs $1200 AUD for the 8 here in Australia. With a discount its possible to get it down by around $200 or so.

Still, I struggle to see the need to upgrade from my 2-3 year old Pixel 5, which still works really well and takes great photos.

I wish the focus came back to value for money when it comes to phones. Also size.. how long can phones keep getting bigger!?

How can u be disappointed this will be $350 in 2 months...
even if that wasn't the case most people in the US will buy this on contract so a $500 lease is less than a $700 lease. That's what you missed because that's my situation. It's less stressful owing T-Mobile $500 than $700

When the 8a eventually goes on sale for $399 or $350, it will be the best in the game, but 2024 has become a banner year for the upper midrange. Google's advantage at the current $499 price point is gone unless you are specifically a Pixel fan (as I am). The MSRP is probably fair as compared to the MSRP of the 8, as the difference is $200. The issue is that they both cost a bit too much. Even a default $50 less would be a huge difference as a value proposition.

In France, currently, the Pixel 8 is at 599 € and the 8a at 549 €. So, the 8 is a better choice.

Just managed to get a 8a for just under£300 Uk with a double amazon deal from prime day & a student discount. Definetly more value for money. Honestly though I get the price nitpicking I dont really want to be spending that much on a phone vs the various things I can do with a computer for the same price for example especially with this trend of 1k phones. People have robbed chains worth less money alot of phones feel like wealth symbols more features higher price just never seems worth it when the point should be to make calls not to mention the quick deflate in value. No wonder people be just snatching phones out of unsuspecting peoples hands on motorbikes.
