Just changed the Canister Purge Valve on my 2010 Ford F150. Got the valve from WalMart online believe it or not. Then I purchased a OBDII Scanner at WalMart for $19.99 and cleared the error code myself. It took about a minute. The Purge Valve is located at the top back of the engine on the 5.4L engine but it only had one 8mm screw holding it on. There are two clamps holding the hoses in place that come off very easily. This video saved me a bunch of money. Thanks

Thanks for this - you just saved me over $2, 000 compared to what my local Ford dealer quoted to fix the issue! Didn't take me more than 20 minutes and it feels great to be able to do this myself.

Dude, that test you showed by pulling the plug and using your thumb to check vacuum was awesome and helped me check mine. I don't have vacuum test tools but I do have a thumb lol. Thanks bro!

Thank you for this video! I have a 2013 Ford Edge with a 3.5 and 120, 000 miles. I followed your instructions and it fixed the P0456 error and got rid of the check engine light!

I realize this is an old video but thank you for the simple fix showing what codes this fixes. The only thing that complicates this job is when you drop one of the purge valve bolts.

I don't understand why ford insist to complicate things, why not just use a regular fuel cap?

Thank you !  My wife has a 2012 Escape... the P0456 popped up today. Did your test and after unplugged it was still getting suction, went to an auto part place, grabbed a replacement one for $16.99, Popped it in (it's in the front of the motor, took a whole 3 min to swap) and re-did the test. No suction after being unplugged.  Too bad the code will take time to go away, my wife does under 20 miles in a week. I would pull the battery, but, she's worried about losing presets and Blue-tooth settings.

Thanks a ton for this video!!! It saved me a ton of money. I have a 2012 Ford Escape Engine light came on and I took it to Autozone to get the code (EVAP leak) Found your video and tested to see if there was suction and there was. Ordered the purge valve from your handy amazon link. Replaced it and a week later the engine light went off. Ford Dealership wanted $140 just to look at it!! THANKS !!!

Another great video. Thanks. My wife's 2012 Escape Hybrid Limited first had Code P0442. Cleaned and lubricated fuel filler cap, per your other video. Then, threw Code P0456. Replaced vapor canister purge valve. It's right on top of the engine, just in a different orientation. All good! Thanks!

I just called Ford customer service about this problem. Our 2010 F150 started having issues the last time we filled the gas tank. Today CNN reported a recall involving the canister purge valve in 2010 and 2011 Ford Fusions and Mercury Milans. They have no current recalls on the F150. Please make sure that if you have this problem to report it to Ford which involves having to have a dealer service department diagnose the problem so that a recall can be issued for the F150 as well.

I just got this code yesterday. I cleaned the no cap filler neck first, but if it comes back I'll now know what I need to do. thank you.

2010 Fusion Felt vacuum, without electrical connection and swapped out part. No Vacuum, Code 1450 cleared but still have P0456 after driving 100 miles. Thanks for the video.

So would this leak cause my 2009 Escape to shake like it has no power when accelerating at low RPM?

Got a P0455, then multiple; seems every other day P0457 (Check Fuel Fill Inlet), codes starting about half a month ago. I checked the purge valve after finding this video of yours, and it was soooo stuck open. Also love your capless fuel filler video too, which I've also done now twice, before finding the purge valve being stuck open. Got a new purge valve, no more vacuum with the wire disconnected. Waiting to see if the truck resets its codes naturally now, I'm hoping the purge valve was the problem and not part of one. Oh, vehicle of mine is a 2010 F150, 4.6 L. 3V. Thanks so much!!!

can you show exactly where in the engine the part is at. The close up view doesn't give a clue to where it is located.

It worked!! Thank you very much. When I unplugged the electrical wire I didn't have the flutter noise but I had the suction as described in your video. I put the new valve in, tested it but had no flutter or suction with the electrical plugged in. So I decided to take it for a test drive. Came back home tested it again and it worked flawlessly as described no suction or flutter when unplugged. And suction and flutter when plugged in. So if what happened to me happens to you when you test the valve. Take it for a test drive after installing the new valve. Than test the valve. Thanks again!

About every car I have owned over the last 10 years has had this problem. Two of them needed evap canister replacement (get a younger used one.) Others just needed the purge valve replaced. So dumb....
