“If we get to the end of summer and Russia hasn’t made a significant breakthrough … I think we’ll be in a far better situation to see Ukraine have another surge on the battlefields.”

Ukraine is “eroding Russia’s opportunity to make significant gains” by targeting oil depots and logistic nodes, says military analyst Sean Bell.

Targetting refineries is a no brainer. That reduces amount Muscovy can process daily but you have to keep oil flowing from wells since shutting them in can result in losing the well. So it forces them to sell that oil instead. It boosts not reduces available oil on global markets. But it drops refined products like diesel and jet fuel available to them. It's a perfect strategy.

Ukraine is hitting refineries not the actual crude oil. This is not affecting the oil prices. It's just costing Russia. It is awesome. Slava Ukraine.

I find it difficult to understand why so many people in the west fail to see the importance of this war in Ukraine.
People often say "its not our war" and i tell them "it will be if we dont help Ukraine" but im often met with ridicule obviously.
Same when i mention the US elections, with fascism in the GOP.
People often say "its not so bad." or "Trump doesnt mean it".
And im like "have you already forgotten he didnt want to admit a defeat?"
We need a free Ukraine, we need a democratic US, we need to work together to standup against Russia, China, Iran, North Korea if we value our freedom.
I rather live poorly knowing we are free. We are not poor, im just making an example to show how much i care.

The leaders, of the countries i named, hate personal freedom and democracy.

Not just fuel: never forget lubricants! A chap like Putin is nothing without lubricant.

Wow, 24% I heard that, I thought Russia might last until the middle of next year. If Ukraine can keep those refineries offline, this winter could force Vlad to the table. Great overall summary.

He was kinda off point. There are two very distinct things Russia is producing
1. Crude oil. this is what Russia sells to other countries for profits
2. Petroleum products (gasoline and diesel). These are produced at refineries, which Ukraine has been targeting. The important distinction is that russia doesn't really export these. They are for internal consumption. Blowing up refineries would have no impact on world prices, since it is not an export product. In fact, if Ukraine blows up refineries and Russia can't refine it, they well end up selling more crude, which brings down world oil prices.

The thing to watch out for is in the fall and harvesting crops. Last year, Russia did not have enough diesel for the farmers, and so it had to sell crude to India, and then buy diesel from India and import it. This is very expensive because both trips take 80 days. This fall shortage happened BEFORE ukraine started bombing refineries, so this year it will likely be much worse. Russia will be selling crude to india, and then buy diesel at twice the cost back from india. Watch for farmer protests in the fall, as they compete against tanks for limited diesel products.

Technically speaking Russia lost the war almost immediately after launching it; it's now just a question of how badly they will lose and decline.

How do we get from talking about supporting Ukraine, to meaningfully doing it? What will it take for the western leaders to stop being afraid? Do we need different leaders who understand that we are up against a tyrannical regime bent on destroying the west no matter how long and what it takes.

Setting aside what your position on climate change is, we need to move away from oil just to reduce our dependence on these deeply unpleasant places which do not like us.

Now all we need is Oil Workers to go on strike, for safety pay.

HOWEVER, Guyana and Brasil are dramatically increasing oil production. And the US has further capability to produce oil. Let's focus on ALTERNATE suppliers.

Ukraine attacking Russias ability to refine oil doesnt decrease the worlds supply. It forces Russia to sell their crude on the open market and import refined petroleum for higher prices. China snapping up Russian oil below market price also helps achieve the wests goals too

You missed the point of targeting refineries in Russia.
It doesn't affect the world price of crude oil
