You missed the biggest point Russia does not honor deals. A cease fire is only there so they can rebuild and attack you, or a weaker neighbour. It also tells them they have won and they need to do more in the future.

Putin has NOT offered to freeze the existing lines of control, he said he would accept a cease fire only after Ukraine abandoned the territory that Russia does not control that is in the four provinces Russia unilaterally annexed. Russian promises and peace treaties are meaningless.
