The F-14, also known as the Grumman F-14 Tomcat, was a supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat fighter aircraft used by the United States Navy from the 1970s until its retirement in 2006. The F-14, which was constructed by Grumman Aerospace, was primarily intended to act as a fleet defense interceptor capable of engaging hostile aircraft in air-to-air and air-to-ground warfare.

Variable geometry wings, the Phoenix missile system, multi-role capability, a two-seat configuration, modern avionics, and supersonic speed are a few of the primary characteristics and abilities of the F-14 Tomcat. The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet eventually took the position of the F-14 as the premier carrier-based fighter for the Navy, though, as a result of technological developments and the development of more contemporary fighter aircraft.

The Cheney, traitors, has a beef against Grumman so they used their political clout against the company

It was built in a time when quality was #1. Built to last dosen't exist now in the work place. It's been around since the 70s, and they have already talked about retiring the F22.

Cost was biggest reason the F-14 was retired. More cost to fly plus more space required and cost for maintenance.
